CMH Architects Department Store Projects: Saks Fifth Avenue

The Naples Project consisted of renovation of existing 47,000 SF and addition of approx. 20,000 SF. Saks wanted to significantly expand the extremely profitable Naples store, however due to zoning constraints, the expansion was limited to 20,000 SF within a very constricted site area. The store remained open throughout construction despite the required relocation of the existing main electrical room, transformer, major mechanical upgrades, construction of two new main entries and the complete interior renovation. The Palm Beach Project consisted of renovation of approx. 99,000 SF existing store and a new 35,000 SF two level addition. Store remained operational throughout design and construction. Due to site constraints and strict city zoning, the existing two level store could only be expanded on the façade that included the only exterior entry, requiring planning and construction sequencing that maintained public access and emergency egress throughout construction. The Sarasota project included a building shell for a two-level store totaling approximately 80,000 SF with one lower-level mall entry, one exterior store entrance, two escalators, one passenger elevator, one service elevator, four restrooms (2 male, 2 female),a main electrical distribution room and one secondary electrical room.
