Spain Park High School

CMH designed the 100-acre Spain Park campus to accommodate a 10,000-seat football stadium, track, and baseball fields. A large courtyard with amphitheater and gathering areas connects the three-story, 112-classroom academic wing to the adjacent building, which houses a media center/library, cafeteria, facilities for the arts and a 2,000-seat basketball arena.

Location: Hoover, Alabama

Size: 362,000 SF

Completion: 2001

The challenge that we faced was to provide state-of-the-art facilities for 2,500 students and be competitive cost-wise.

And we were successful in that — several other high schools in the Birmingham area were bid at the same time, all of which were significantly higher in cost than Spain Park.

We are thrilled with this well-designed and well-built facility.

As one of the state’s two largest high schools, Spain Park will help us provide the best education possible for our young people and keep pace with the rapid growth of our community. Visitors from other school systems are amazed. They’ve never seen anything like it.
