CMH Architects Projects In Progress: The Shops of Grand River
The start of a development with a total area of over 6,000 acres, The Shops of Grand River is a 520,000 SF (Phase 1) upscale Outlet Center, with adjoining power center and entertainment components. The Cahaba River bisects the development and so the owner, mindful of the impact of this size project on the local ecosystem, chose to adopt Audubon International’s Signature development standards. These developmental guidelines shaped the design teams approach to the project. The buildings are designed for open air shopping with an enclosed feel and the hardscape design echoes the Cahaba River location and pays homage to the birds found on the Cahaba through elements both decorative and informative. The project is adjacent to The Barber Motorsports Park and a newly completed Bass Pro Shop and is slated to start construction in mid 2009.
